The show is called “THE STORYTELLER,” and that title is actually doing a lot of work. This is not a standard greatest-hits set — it is a career retrospective in Tony Orlando’s own voice, built around the stories behind the songs and the people he shared a stage with. Night 2 of his two-night run at The Bear’s Den Showroom at Seneca Niagara Resort & Casino is Saturday, May 2 at 8:00 PM.
About Tony Orlando
Sixty-plus years in the business, and the career still holds up to the retelling. Fifteen Top 40 hits — including “Tie A Yellow Ribbon Round the Old Oak Tree,” “Knock Three Times,” and “He Don’t Love You (Like I Love You)” — two Platinum albums, three Gold albums, two American Music Awards, a People’s Choice Award for Best Male Entertainer, the Bob Hope Award for Excellence in Entertainment, and a Hollywood Walk of Fame star. He hosted the Tony Orlando and Dawn variety show and has performed on Broadway and in television series. The résumé is considerable.
What makes this show different is the format. Orlando performs five of his chart-topping hits, but each one comes with its backstory attached — told in his own words, with rare video clips woven throughout. The name-drops are not incidental: Elvis Presley, Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Jerry Lewis, Barry Manilow, Paul McCartney, Lionel Richie, and Carole King all figure into the narrative. These are not celebrity gossip — these are the career stories of someone who was actually in the room with all of them.
This is his Farewell Tour. The select engagements are getting fewer. Niagara Falls made the list.
