Al Jardine spent more than six decades as a founding Beach Boy. Since Brian Wilson’s death in June 2025, the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer has taken on a different kind of touring obligation, built from the musicians Wilson developed over more than two decades and aimed squarely at the 60th anniversary of the album that most completely defined Wilson’s vision. The two-night stand at the Bear’s Den Showroom at Seneca Niagara Resort & Casino, beginning February 12, is not incidental to that project. It is the thing itself.
About the Show
Jardine assembled The Pet Sounds Band in 2025 specifically from members of Brian Wilson’s longtime touring ensemble, led by bandleader Darian Sahanaja. Jardine has described the band as knowing “Pet Sounds inside out,” an ensemble that makes the material look easy in ways that require years of absorbed rehearsal. The arrangement required a voice capable of handling the catalog’s most demanding harmonies, a responsibility that fell to Jardine’s son Matt. “Matt was born the year Pet Sounds came out,” Jardine has said, “and now he’s my Brian Wilson.” The setlist runs through the canonical hits — “California Girls,” “Help Me, Rhonda,” “I Get Around,” “Wouldn’t It Be Nice” — alongside deeper selections from 1970s releases including 15 Big Ones and The Beach Boys Love You.
Jardine, inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1988 and a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award recipient in 2001, sang lead on “Help Me, Rhonda” when it hit number one. In May 2026, he joined Bruce Johnston and Mike Love at Capitol Records to receive double-platinum plaques for Pet Sounds, marking over two million units sold in the album’s 60th year. The band completed a full Australian run in 2026, with dates across Sydney, Perth, Adelaide, Melbourne, Brisbane, and Newcastle, before beginning the current U.S. leg. The 2025 EP Islands in the Sun, a three-track release featuring Bruce Johnston and Matt Jardine, hints that Jardine is not purely in archival mode, though the Bear’s Den shows are structured squarely around the Beach Boys material that defines his legacy. February 12 is the first of two consecutive nights.
