Zach Williams arrives at Albany’s Palace Theatre on November 20 as the Revival Nights Tour reaches its penultimate stop — a 21-city run that follows an Akron date the night before and bills itself, in its own promotional language, as “a night of revival and renewal.” By the time a touring show reaches this point in a long autumn run, it tends to know what it is.
About Zach Williams
Williams’s biography is part of what gives his music its texture. Born in Florida and raised in Arkansas — including time in Bono, a town of roughly two thousand people — he spent years fronting a regional southern rock outfit, Zach Williams & The Reformation, before a 2012 conversion experience changed the direction of both his life and his catalog. His 2016 solo debut, Chain Breaker, reached number one on US Christian charts, went platinum, and earned him the Grammy Award for Best Contemporary Christian Music Album. The follow-up, Rescue Story, produced “There Was Jesus” — a Dolly Parton duet that won the Grammy for Best Contemporary Christian Music Performance/Song in 2021 — and helped push his catalog past nearly one billion streams. His third album, A Hundred Highways, addressed addiction and anxiety with unusual candor. His current release, Jesus Loves, is streaming now.
What has kept Williams credible across that output is the southern rock foundation that predates his CCM career — rough guitar riffs and gravelly vocals that haven’t been smoothed out.
Cochren & Co. — husband-wife duo Michael and Leah Cochren, whose Gold-certified “Church (Take Me Back)” and 2023 Grand Ole Opry debut mark them as something more than an opening act — share the bill alongside singer-songwriter Christian Hohn, who opens with material grounded in themes of faith, struggle, and redemption.
