Alan Doyle at Buffalo State PAC | May 1, 2026
If you have been looking for a reason to make the drive to Buffalo on a Friday night in May, Alan Doyle just handed you one. The Newfoundland-born singer, 14-time JUNO Award nominee, and former frontman of Great Big Sea brings his Already Dancing Tour to Rockwell Hall at Buffalo State Performing Arts Center on May 1 — a full-band night that lands somewhere between East Coast singalong and a quiet-room moment with one of Canada’s most versatile writers.
About Alan Doyle
Doyle grew up in Petty Harbour, Newfoundland, and spent two decades helping turn Great Big Sea from a regional pub phenomenon into one of Canada’s most beloved acts. From their 1993 formation through their 2013 dissolution, the band logged seven Top 10 placements and 11 JUNO Award nominations. Doyle’s solo work has pushed that career tally to 14 JUNO Award nominations overall — and the resume doesn’t stop at music. He has acting credits in Ridley Scott’s Robin Hood and Winter’s Tale, a co-writing partnership with Russell Crowe on The Crowe/Doyle Songbook Vol. III, two bestselling memoirs (Where I Belong in 2014 and A Newfoundlander in Canada in 2018), and induction into the Order of Canada in 2017.
The centerpiece of this tour is Welcome Home, his fourth solo album. Doyle has described it as built around “the lower and slower: the lower part of my vocal range and the slower songs” — a deliberate shift for a performer who has spent most of his career in full-throttle mode. The collaborators alone signal a record worth paying attention to: Jimmy Rankin, Donovan Woods, and Oscar Isaac all appear on it. He brings the whole thing to Buffalo as Alan Doyle & The Beautiful Beautiful Band, with Bandits On The Run opening the night.
