Buffalo State PAC sits on Elmwood Avenue like it’s been waiting for you to notice — and if you haven’t caught a show at Rockwell Hall yet, this is the one to fix that. Natalie MacMaster and Donnell Leahy, the “first couple of contemporary Celtic music,” are bringing their Celtic All-Stars tour to the 856-seat venue on Saturday, November 7, with showtime at 8pm.

About Natalie MacMaster & Donnell Leahy

MacMaster and Leahy are one of those live acts you hear about and then immediately wonder why you waited so long. MacMaster — a Cape Breton fiddle virtuoso who picked up the violin at age 9 — has earned 2 JUNO Awards, 19 East Coast Music Awards, 3 Gold Albums, Grammy nominations, and an Order of Canada induction in 2006. Leahy led his family band to Double-Platinum status and 3 JUNO Awards of his own; the group was featured in an Academy Award-nominated documentary. Together they’ve sold out over 1,000 shows in North America, collaborating along the way with Yo-Yo Ma, Alison Krauss, Carlos Santana, Rhiannon Giddens, The Chieftains, and Béla Fleck.

The Celtic All-Stars show is not just the two of them — it’s a full ensemble of standouts: vocalist Karen Matheson OBE (of Capercaillie), four-time All-Ireland Champion banjo player Enda Scahill, Scottish piper Ross Ainslie, and their daughter Mary Frances. The evening traces Celtic music from its ancient roots through its modern evolution, spanning Ireland, Scotland, and Canada. MacMaster describes it simply: “It’s fun, it’s sweet, it’ll make you cry, it’ll make you laugh.”
