gnash at Electric City | September 28, 2026

By Eli Thorne · September 12, 2026

gnash built his whole artistic identity around what he calls “:): (happysad)” — a blend of light, jovial honesty with deep, raw emotion that sits somewhere between a late-night text you shouldn’t have sent and the song you put on when it finally doesn’t sting anymore. The Garden Tour is the 10th-anniversary run of the EPs where that sound first landed. It comes to Electric City in Buffalo on Monday, Sept. 28, with Mark Diamond opening.

About the Show

The Garden Tour marks a decade since gnash released his first three EPs — u (March 2015), me (December 2015), and us (March 2017) — and celebrates the breakthrough single that came out of that era. “i hate u, i love u,” featuring Olivia O’Brien, peaked at No. 10 on the Billboard Hot 100, is certified 9× Platinum, and has logged more than 2 billion Spotify streams. Those are crossover numbers, but gnash has always framed his music as something small and interior: a shared space for processing emotion, not a hit machine.

Born Garrett Charles Nash in Los Angeles, he started DJing hip-hop at 13, playing high school dances before building a career that pulled from an unexpected range: The Postal Service, J. Cole, Jack Johnson, Bob Marley. The resulting sound has been described as combining “the emotional vulnerability of early-2000s emo singer/songwriters with the sounds of introspective alternative R&B.” His most recent album, The Art of Letting Go, came out March 24, 2023, on Atlantic Recording Corporation. His catalog has also earned recognition including a Billboard Music Award and an MTV Video Music Award for Best New Artist.

The tour runs 24 dates across North America through Oct. 23. The Buffalo stop falls midway through the itinerary. Two days prior, gnash plays New York City’s Gramercy Theatre.

Opening is Mark Diamond, a multi-genre singer/songwriter from Seattle. His debut independent album cleared 200 million streams with no major-label backing and no editorial playlisting behind it. He also provided an acoustic opening set at gnash’s intimate “goodnight” listening party in San Francisco on June 28, 2026 — which puts him squarely inside the tour’s orbit rather than just on the bill.
