After a Togetherness Tour that stretched across 90-plus markets, including Red Rocks and The Greek Theatre, Franti is doing something more deliberate with the Heartstrings & Dynamite Tour: paring back to trio format for 30 cities, in rooms where the distance between stage and audience is something a performer actually has to reckon with. His own site describes it as “an intimate evening of music & stories.” That is a specific kind of promise from someone whose reputation has been built on high-energy live shows.
About the Show
The Buffalo date, billed as “Michael Franti Trio — Heartstrings & Dynamite,” arrives at Electric City on Tuesday, October 6. Franti is a Bay Area native and globally recognized musician whose career has produced three Billboard No. 1 hits — “Sound of Sunshine,” “Say Hey (I Love You),” and “I Got You” — alongside six Top 30 Hot AC singles, 10 Top 25 AAA singles, and three Billboard Top 5 Rock Albums. He is also an award-winning filmmaker and activist; the activist work is not a biographical footnote but something the tour itself reflects. His 13th studio album, Big Big Love, was released in November 2023 and debuted in the Top 5 on the iTunes Pop Chart. His official site lists Welcome to the Family as his most recent project, with the single “Be Who You Are” as its latest visual release. No support acts are listed for the Electric City date.
The tour carries a direct charitable component: one dollar from every ticket benefits Do It For The Love, the nonprofit Franti co-founded with his wife Sara Agah Franti. The organization brings individuals with life-threatening illnesses, veterans, and children with severe challenges to live concerts around the world. It has fulfilled more than 3,500 wishes and reached more than 15,000 people.
Venue & Logistics
Electric City sits at 433 Pearl St. in Buffalo with a 1,000-person capacity — a scale that suits what the trio format is designed to do. Franti recently completed a worldwide run through amphitheaters and iconic outdoor stages; the move to a club room is built into the logic of this particular tour. The show is Tuesday, October 6, at 8 p.m. More upcoming shows in western New York are listed in our regional hub.
