Sludge metal supergroup Atomic Rule wraps up its July East Coast run at Empire Underground in Albany’s Capital District on Sunday, July 12. Albany is the final stop on a string that started in Richmond and rolled through Pittsburgh, Buffalo, and Syracuse — and 7:00 PM on N. Pearl Street is where it ends. Show up.
About Atomic Rule
The résumé behind this band is the whole story. Atomic Rule brings together guitarist Andy Williams — former guitarist of Every Time I Die and an active AEW professional wrestler — alongside Kevin Boutot on drums (Dry Kill Logic, ex-The Acacia Strain), Travis Bennington of Eternal Sleep, and vocalist James Hendergroove. The press tagged them a “sludge metal supergroup” from the jump, and that framing holds up.
They have two recordings out: debut demo With Skull Crushing Force (September 2025, 288 Records) and the three-song EP The Golden Rose, released December 12, 2025. The band called The Golden Rose the first material written by all current members together. That catalog — and the fact that Atomic Rule is already booked on GWAR’s fall “Gor Gor Must Die!” North American tour — tells you exactly where this band is pointed.
This is still early-stage touring for Atomic Rule. Catching them in a club in July 2026 is the kind of thing you will want to be able to say you did. The Virgos and Mistress open.

Empire Underground occupies the downstairs floor of the two-floor Empire Live complex at 93 N. Pearl Street in downtown Albany. It is a proper club room — the kind of space where heavy music works the way heavy music is supposed to work, where the room does as much lifting as the band. For Capital District metal, it is the right address for a show like this.
