Band of Horses and Dinosaur Jr. at UPAC | July 10, 2026

By Meg Andersen · April 30, 2026

Here is the thing about opening night: the bands are hungry. They have been sitting on these sets for months, and the first audience gets all of that energy. That is exactly what is waiting at UPAC in Kingston this Friday.

Band of Horses and Dinosaur Jr. kick off their summer co-headline run at the Ulster Performing Arts Center on July 10 — and both acts are bringing something specific. Band of Horses will perform Everything All the Time, their Gold-certified 2006 Sub Pop debut, front to back in honor of its 20th anniversary. Dinosaur Jr. will answer with a full performance of Where You Been, the 1993 record that pushed their noise-rock blueprint to its commercial peak. Two complete albums. First night of the tour.

About the Artists

Band of Horses have spent 2026 deep in the world of that debut. The 20th anniversary reissue — remastered and expanded with demos, rarities, and previously unreleased recordings — dropped in March via Sub Pop, and frontman Ben Bridwell put it plainly: “This album made all of my dreams come true. Forever grateful for the desperation that fueled its inspiration.” Songs like “The Funeral,” a cultural touchstone that has been finding its way into films and TV soundtracks for two decades, will land differently in a room of 1,500 people who have been carrying them around for years.

Dinosaur Jr. bring their own weight. J Mascis, Lou Barlow, and Murph have been back as the original lineup since 2005, and they are still one of the loudest live acts you will find. Where You Been reached No. 10 in the UK and produced the No. 3 Modern Rock hit “Start Choppin’” — a band who have earned every decibel. Worth knowing: $1 from every ticket benefits the Vera Project, a nonprofit dedicated to youth engagement in music and art.

About UPAC

The Ulster Performing Arts Center is a 1,500-seat theater at 601 Broadway in downtown Kingston, in the Hudson Valley. It is a proper room — the kind where a show this well-matched finds its footing. A few things to plan around: there is no elevator access in the building, so if accessibility is a concern, contact the box office directly — ADA seating is available. The box office is open Tuesday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Bardavon members receive early pre-sale access and discounts not available through Ticketmaster.

Tickets & Pricing

Tickets start at $50.50 and top out at $76 through official channels. Get them at Ticketmaster.com or in person at the Bardavon/UPAC box offices. This is the opening night of the summer tour — plan accordingly.
