Big Shrimp at Buffalo Iron Works | June 4, 2026

Here is the short version: a Bridgeport, Connecticut quartet that sold out a Phish after-party at Madison Square Garden — in January of their second year together — is coming to Buffalo, and tickets start at twenty dollars. That is the whole pitch for Thursday, June 4 at Buffalo Iron Works.

Big Shrimp formed in 2024 and have been moving fast. Jared Sage Cowen (guitar/vocals), Max Perrotti (bass/vocals), Daniel Cohen (keys/vocals), and Henry Thomas (drums/vocals) play progressive improvised rock that pulls in funk, blues rock, and genuine spontaneity without losing the thread of a song. Over 100 originals in the catalog, all four members singing — it is a band that sounds bigger than four people. Grateful Web named them to their Top 12 Upcoming Jam Bands to Watch in 2026. NYSMusic called it “funkiest, most cathartic energy with catchy melodies, impressive solos, complex arrangements, and shifting tempos.” The MSG Phish after-party was January 2026. They also played Northlands Festival alongside Umphrey’s McGee and moe. This Buffalo date is a named stop on their 30+ date “It’s As Shrimple As That Tour” this spring.

Cowen put it plainly: “Only a year and a half into this journey, the chemistry we’re finding on stage each night feels truly special.” A year and a half in, and they are filling rooms that most bands spend a decade trying to book.

Opening is Tsavo Highway, a six-piece from right here in Buffalo that won Best New Band and Best Vocalist (Emily Scripps) at the 2023 All WNY Awards. Scripps performed the National Anthem for the Savannah Bananas in August 2025 — over a million viewers. Their 2025 full-length Circles is worth a listen before Thursday.

Buffalo Iron Works sits in the Historic Cobblestone District, housed in an early 1900s factory space at 49 Illinois Street. The 500-capacity room has become a consistent stop for touring artists in the region. If you have not been out yet, this is a good night to fix that.
