If you have been waiting for a reason to make the drive to Buffalo for a show, the Coast to Coast Tour gives you three of them. Colin James, Matt Andersen, and Terra Lightfoot — three of Canada’s most decorated roots musicians — are bringing their 18-city US spring run to Town Ballroom on Sunday, May 3. Doors open at 7 PM. Get there early — this is a 1,000-capacity standing-room venue and it fills up.
About Colin James
Colin James has been at this for more than 35 years, and his catalog backs it up: 21 studio albums, 8 JUNO Awards, 31 Maple Blues Awards, and a Canadian Music Industry Hall of Fame induction. His 1988 self-titled debut was the fastest-selling album in Canadian history. His 2016 record Blue Highways spent 10 weeks at number one on the Roots Music Report Blues Chart. He has shared stages with Bonnie Raitt, Keith Richards, and Carlos Santana — the kind of career resume that earns a headlining slot without needing any further explanation.
His latest album, Chasing the Sun (Stony Plain Records, August 2024), features collaborations with Lucinda Williams, Charlie Musselwhite, and Darryl Jones. If you want context for the drive down, his memoir Playing the Changes: A Musician’s Memoir — released April 2026 and covering his Saskatchewan upbringing and the years before his debut — is worth grabbing before you go.
He does not come alone. Matt Andersen — International Blues Challenge winner and one of the most praised vocalist-songwriters on the Canadian roots circuit — is on the bill. So is Terra Lightfoot, a two-time JUNO nominee from Ontario who has toured with Willie Nelson and Bruce Cockburn. The night is billed as a mix of individual sets and collaborative performances across blues, folk, rock, and soul. That is a lot of ground to cover, and this lineup has the range to cover it.
