If you have been tracking the deathcore underground, Distant is not a discovery — they are a confirmation. The Dutch-Slovakian four-piece just wrapped a 31-date headline run across the UK and Europe, playing rooms like the London O2 Kentish Town Forum and Manchester’s The Ritz. Now they are bringing that same weight to Albany for one night, and Empire Underground is the room.
Distant plays downtempo deathcore — the crushing, slow-grind strain of the genre built on weight and groove rather than pure speed. Hailing from Rotterdam, Netherlands and Bratislava, Slovakia and active since 2014, they have spent over a decade building one of the heavier catalogs in the genre. Their album Heritage (2023), their most-listened release, features Will Ramos of Lorna Shore on the title track. Their January 2026 single “Nothing Left to Hate” arrived with an official video and a statement from the band: “Distant at full destructive force — thicker riffs, deeper grooves, and a raw dive into self-destruction and chaos.” If you follow Signs of the Swarm, Worm Shepherd, or Crown Magnetar, this is your show.

Empire Underground at 93 N. Pearl Street is the right room for this — a 350-capacity club that runs loud, close, and with no real distance between you and the stage. Albany opens a four-city US run that continues through Richmond, Harrisburg, and Chapel Hill. These are small rooms. This is the show before they stop playing them.
