The tour Marc Brownstein had planned under his DJ Brownie name was supposed to cost money. Low advance ticket sales made that complicated, so he flipped it. Tonight’s stop at Buffalo Iron Works is part of what he’s calling “Fan Appreciation Week” — a Northeast run of sets offered free to prove that the show goes on regardless of the presale numbers. Brownstein’s stated position: “Show. Must. Go. On.”
About the Show
Brownstein is the bassist for The Disco Biscuits and co-founder of both HeadCount, the voter registration nonprofit, and Camp Bisco music festival. As DJ Brownie, he works primarily in house music in its various forms, shifting into down-tempo, hip-hop, and drum and bass when the room calls for it. The approach is improvisational: he chooses what to play in real time based on the vibe on the floor, not off a setlist. What began as a hobby roughly a decade ago has grown into an active touring career spanning major markets including Denver, New York City, and Miami. He currently has 18 upcoming dates scheduled, running from Iceland to Jam Cruise 2027 alongside George Clinton & Parliament Funkadelic and Stephen Marley. Debut studio releases are expected in winter 2026.
The original version of this tour was planned alongside former STS9 bassist David Murphy. When advance sales came up short, Brownstein reorganized rather than cancel. “Times are tough guys,” he said. “There’s a million shows. Ticket fees are sometimes as expensive as the tickets themselves.” His offer this week: “You come to the show, pay nothing, and just enjoy the music.” He’s asked attendees to support the venues through food and drink purchases, and said he’s open to poster sales and tips.
This Buffalo stop comes one night after an Albany show at The Eleven at Lark Hall. The “Fan Appreciation Week” run continues Tuesday in Portland, ME, Wednesday in Brattleboro, VT, and wraps Thursday in Asbury Park, NJ.

Buffalo Iron Works, at 49 Illinois St in Buffalo, is a venue Brownstein has already described as an “annual late night” stop on the DJ Brownie calendar. He knows the Disco Biscuits crowd that shows up here — this room is part of why he keeps coming back to western New York. It’s an 18+ show. Doors at 7:00 p.m., set at 8:00 p.m.
