Rec Room on Chippewa Street is one of those 300-capacity rooms where the crowd and the performer end up in the same space in every sense — and Ian McConnell is exactly the kind of act that makes that intimacy count. He’s rolling through Buffalo on his Fall 2026 Tour on Saturday, October 10, and if you haven’t caught him yet, this is a good Saturday night to fix that.
About Ian McConnell
McConnell is a Nashville-based singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist who grew up in a musical household in suburban DC — his mother teaches piano, his father plays bass in local cover bands — and he has turned that upbringing into something entirely his own. He plays cello, handles all his own production (writing, producing, mixing, mastering), and makes music that gets described, affectionately, as “Ed Sheeran meets Bo Burnham.” Another common comparison: “Kroger-brand Ed Sheeran.” He leans into both.
His work is released in self-described “seasons” rather than traditional albums. Season 2 is out on Spotify now, with tracks like “Level 429,” “Accomplish Nothing,” and “Lazy/Busy.” Season 3 drops July 10, and new single “Bangladesh” is already out. The through-line is melodic hooks matched with self-aware, comedic lyrics designed to make you feel, in his own words, “seen, but not TOO seen.” He has crossed 15 million streams across platforms and built a TikTok following north of 600k — all self-run, all self-produced.
Special guests are on the bill; names have not been announced.
