Josh Turner at Palace Theatre | August 21, 2026

By Marc Delacroix · May 12, 2026

Josh Turner last appeared in this part of the state at the Schoharie County Sunshine Fair in the summer of 2024 — a fair date being a fair date. His return to Albany this August is a different proposition: the Palace Theatre on Clinton Avenue, a restored 2,844-seat house that suits a voice like his considerably better.

The This Country Music Thing Tour arrives behind Turner’s tenth studio album of the same name, released last August on MCA Nashville. Produced by Kenny Greenberg, the record is traditional-leaning country that doesn’t pretend to be anything else — which is exactly what the name tells you. Five number-one singles and a platinum-certified debut have built the foundation; the live show, centered on that unmistakable deep baritone, has always been where Turner makes the argument for himself. “Long Black Train,” “Your Man,” and whatever the new record contributes make for a catalog that plays naturally in a theater room.

Opening is Spencer Hatcher, a Virginia-raised singer-songwriter signed to Stone Country Records and named a Taste of Country RISERS 2026 artist. His sound — rooted in bluegrass and traditional country, shaped by Cash, Strait, and Keith Whitley — is a natural fit for a Turner bill. Current single: “When She Calls Me Cowboy.”

About Josh Turner

A South Carolina native and one of the youngest members ever inducted into the Grand Ole Opry, Turner is a multiple Grammy nominee, GMA Dove Award winner, and recipient of the Order of the Palmetto — South Carolina’s highest civilian honor. His tenth studio album This Country Music Thing (MCA Nashville, 2024), produced by Kenny Greenberg, includes lead single “Down in Georgia” and three tracks he wrote or co-wrote. A Greatest Hits collection preceded it in 2023.
