Larry Campbell and Teresa Williams make music the way long partnerships work — the guitar answering the voice before it has finished its thought, the harmony arriving not as addition but as completion. They met in a Manhattan rehearsal studio in 1986, when Campbell was hired to play pedal steel for a singing competition Williams was entering, and what started that afternoon has been finding its form on record and stage ever since.

Campbell and Williams bring their full band to Maverick Concert Hall in Woodstock on Friday, July 24, for a night in the venue’s Maverick Friday Nights summer series. Joining them are Andy Stack on bass and vocals (a Hudson Valley musician who founded Buffalo Stack and has played alongside Martin Sexton, Madeleine Peyroux, and Little Feat) and Justin Guip on drums and percussion, a three-time Grammy-winning drummer and engineer whose credits include Levon Helm, The Band, John Hiatt, Elvis Costello, and Eric Clapton.
The show arrives on the back of All This Time, the duo’s fourth album, released in 2024 on Royal Potato Family. The Associated Press called it “a rousing and romantic testament to the power of love both forever and fleeting.” Campbell produced it himself and describes the record as “more intuitive” than earlier work — “evidence that we’ve grown more aware of who we are and what we have to offer.” Chronogram’s Michael Eck heard “deep, sultry grooves” decorated by “matrimonial harmonies,” with Campbell’s work across guitar, mandolin, and steel guitar described as “seemingly effortless.” Before the pair ever made a record under their own names, they were regulars at Levon Helm’s Midnight Rambles in Woodstock — so playing the Maverick on a summer Friday night is, in a real sense, a return to familiar territory.
Teresa Williams came to music by way of the stage, having played Sara Carter and Patsy Cline in theatrical productions, and that performer’s instinct lives in the way she holds a vocal line. Campbell is a multi-instrumentalist who carries the tradition in his hands across guitar, mandolin, fiddle, and pedal steel. MOJO Magazine has called them the “First Couple of Americana,” and it is not hard to hear why: over nearly four decades of shared life and music, they have learned to shape each other’s space without filling it.

Maverick Concert Hall is a historic outdoor pavilion at 120 Maverick Rd in Woodstock, part of the Hudson Valley‘s summer concert landscape. The venue’s 2026 season runs June 27 through September 13. The show starts at 8:00 p.m.
