Monroe Avenue is one of those Rochester streets that rewards a Friday night out — restaurants, bars, plenty of foot traffic, and places to duck into before a show. The Bug Jar sits right in the middle of it at 219 Monroe, and it is exactly the kind of 120-capacity room where live music hits differently than it would anywhere larger. No bad angles, no distance from the action. Just you and the band.
About the Show
Les Greene & the Swayzees headline on Friday, June 26, with The Televisionaries opening the night. Sets start at 9 PM. In a room this size, 9 PM means be there at 9 PM — not 9:30.
The Bug Jar
The Bug Jar is a bar and music venue at 219 Monroe Ave in Rochester’s Monroe Village neighborhood, right in the thick of the strip that has the most going on. The room holds 120, which is a number worth keeping in mind — it is intimate in the best way, but it fills up fast. On a Friday night in June, you don’t want to be the person who assumes they can walk up at the door.
Street parking on Monroe on a weekend night is competitive. My advice: get there early, park on a side street off Monroe, and walk a few blocks. That stretch of Monroe Village has good food options in both directions if you want to grab dinner before the show — you won’t need to go far.
Tickets & Pricing
Tickets are $22.85–$25.94. For a summer Friday in a room this small, that is the right price for a night worth making the drive to Rochester for. Grab them now — this is not a show to test your luck at the door.
