On New Year’s Eve, he brings the Nostalgia Tour to Town Ballroom in Buffalo, right off the back of an album that is rewriting what his fans thought he was capable of.
About the Show
Anderson Gallegos has been recording and performing as Mersiv since 2015, building what has become one of the more earnest and committed projects in bass music. He heads MorFlo Records, tours relentlessly — four consecutive years headlining Red Rocks, headline slots at Bass Canyon, North Coast, and Elements, multiple nights at The Caverns — and has built a fanbase that shows up fully every time.
The Nostalgia Tour is the live extension of his October 23 album Nostalgia, a 13-track record that one critic called “pushing the boundaries of what a dubstep LP is supposed to be.” The album pulls from the alternative, emo, and heavy music Gallegos grew up listening to before he found his lane in bass music — think sharp, stabby bass laid under melodic, hypnotic vocals, with features from Seth David, HVDES, Fryar, Vera Kay, and Seezyn, plus a closing remix of Superheaven’s “Youngest Daughter.” It is genuinely unlike anything else in his catalog.
NYE at Town Ballroom is Night 1 of a two-night run. Opening acts Heyz, Zen Selekta, and Ancestyr will have the room ready well before midnight. A separate New Year’s Day show (Jan. 1) follows with a different supporting lineup. MNM Presents is offering 2-Night Passes and a Travel Package for Two that includes hotel accommodations at Aloft Buffalo Downtown, making this one of the more complete New Year’s weekends you can book in western New York this year.
Venue & Logistics
Town Ballroom is a 1,000-capacity standing-room venue at 681 S. Main Street in Buffalo. The room has a way of making crowd energy feel immediate, which suits the kind of music Mersiv makes. MNM Presents, which has been booking live electronic dance music in WNY since 2001, is producing the run. The event is 18-plus; a government-issued ID is required. Doors open at 8 p.m.
