If you’ve been looking for a reason to make the drive to Rochester, this is it. Reverend Peyton’s Big Damn Band brings their front-porch blues to Photo City Music Hall on Saturday, May 9, with doors opening at 6:30 PM — and if you’ve never seen this trio live, clear your Saturday.
Three musicians. More energy than most arena acts. Reverend Peyton handles lead guitar and vocals with a fingerstyle approach to National steel slide guitar that’s earned him recognition as one of the premier players in the world at what he does. Washboard Breezy Peyton is exactly what it sounds like — she plays washboard, and she is not there for decoration. Jacob “The Snakob” Powell rounds out the rhythm section on drums. This is a band that’s performed in 38 countries and 48 states, studied the blues at the source in Clarksdale, Mississippi under legends T-Model Ford, Robert Belfour, and David “Honeyboy” Edwards, and built a following that shows up hard wherever they play.
Their last album, Dance Songs For Hard Times, hit #1 on the Billboard Blues Charts, iTunes, and Sirius XM Blues Charts. Their newest, Honeysuckle, features collaborators The McCrary Sisters, Billy Branch, Michael Cleveland, and Colton Crawford. They’ve been called “the greatest front-porch blues band in the world” — and Rolling Stone, Living Blues, and Vintage Guitar Magazine have all paid attention.
