Spongerave Buffalo at Buffalo Iron Works | January 2, 2027

By Meg Andersen · October 11, 2026

DJ Soup and DJ PVLSE have been carrying Kult Classic’s Spongerave through U.S. clubs all fall — Boston in September, Austin in December — and on Saturday, January 2, they bring the SpongeBob SquarePants-themed rave to Buffalo Iron Works to close out the current tour leg.

About the Show

The Spongerave format has national touring history going back to 2022, with confirmed dates at Webster Hall in New York City, The Sinclair in Cambridge, and Underground Arts in Philadelphia. The concept runs SpongeBob SquarePants-themed throughout: the Buffalo event includes a costume contest and themed drinks, presented by Kult Classic. January 2, the Saturday of New Year’s weekend, puts the show at exactly the moment when a late-night themed rave earns its place on the calendar.

DJ Soup, the San Francisco-based electronic and tech house DJ headlining alongside PVLSE, has built his reputation on what his profile describes as “flawless timing and innate awareness of the dancefloor.” Reading a crowd and adjusting before the floor signals it needs adjusting is what separates a themed rave that sustains four hours from one that peaks at midnight. He has performed at Fractalfest and is scheduled for the Melting Waves Music Festival in Asbury Park, New Jersey in November 2026. His recent originals include “Highs and Lows,” “Think About You,” and “Nothing Without You” (all 2023).

DJ PVLSE brings the larger production profile. Ukrainian-born and based in Tokyo, with Japanese, Ukrainian, and Chinese roots, his sound draws from progressive house and electronic dance, with influences he names as Lady Gaga, Hardwell, and David Guetta. His collaboration with Takahiro Yoshihira, “Brabus,” reached the top 2 on Beatport’s Mainstage chart, and multiple additional tracks have entered the top 10. His catalog spans releases on Spinnin’ Records, Revealed Recordings, and Maxximize Records, with support from Hardwell, W&W, Blasterjaxx, and David Guetta. DJ Mag Japan recognized him among the top 30 producers in 2018. Tracks like “Tell Me” (featuring KARRA), “Switchback,” and “Impossible” are part of the library he carries into a room like Buffalo Iron Works.
