If you have not been to Empire Live on North Pearl Street in Albany yet, a Styles P show is a solid occasion to fix that. The venue sits in the heart of downtown Albany — 1,000-person standing room, two floors, the kind of room where the energy builds fast and the sound hits you directly. Empire Live draws some strong bookings, and this one has been on my radar since it got announced.
About Styles P
Styles P — born David R. Styles in Corona, Queens, raised in Yonkers — has been one of the most consistently working voices in East Coast hip-hop for more than three decades. He helped form The Lox with Jadakiss and Sheek Louch in 1994, and the trio made their mark early: Mary J. Blige passed their demo to Sean Combs, landing them on Bad Boy Records. The Lox’s debut, Money, Power & Respect (1998), climbed to No. 3 on the Billboard 200.
On his own, Styles P built a catalog that goes deep. His solo debut A Gangster and a Gentleman (2002) hit No. 6 on the Billboard 200, with lead single “Good Times” reaching No. 22 on the Hot 100. Since then he has released 15 solo studio albums and 16 mixtapes — a pace that most rappers his age stopped trying to match years ago. He is still putting in the work, and live he brings that same locked-in intensity.

Empire Live is a two-floor venue at 93 N. Pearl Street in Albany. The upper level is Empire Live; the lower level is Empire Underground. It holds 1,000 standing, which is the right size for a show like this — close enough that you feel it, big enough to move. It sits in the middle of the Albany / Capital District entertainment corridor, easy to find downtown, and the box office is on site if you prefer to skip the service fees and handle tickets in person.
