There is a meaningful difference between a tribute act and a tribute band that actually does the work. The Four Horsemen, coming to The Showroom at Turning Stone Resort Casino on Friday, June 19, belong firmly in the latter category — and the booking itself is a telling indicator of where they sit in the tribute landscape. You don’t land The Showroom, Turning Stone’s 800-seat cabaret-style theater, by being a weekend bar act.
About The Four Horsemen
The band was built by frontman and guitarist Sean Perry, who has credited witnessing Metallica’s Black Album tour in 1991 as the defining experience that shaped his artistic direction. He joined an existing tribute outfit in 2006 and transformed it into what is now billed as “the only album-quality Metallica experience on the planet” — a tagline that invites skepticism right up until the band executes a note-for-note passage through Master of Puppets at stage volume. Their material draws from Metallica’s first four studio albums — Kill ‘Em All, Ride the Lightning, Master of Puppets, and …And Justice For All — with selected tracks from the self-titled Black Album. The era that built the religion, in other words, not the mainstream crossover years that divided the faithful.
The band’s credibility extends well beyond self-promotion. Brian Wheat, bassist and co-founder of Tesla, manages them globally and has stated plainly that they are “by far the best celebration of Metallica’s music out there.” The Four Horsemen have also been featured in the documentary Metallica Saved My Life. Perry himself frames the mission without apology: “Fans deserve the highest quality reproduction of Metallica’s records and shows. That’s why we’re here.” When a multi-platinum rock veteran signs on as your global manager and a documentary gets made about the music you’re honoring, you have moved past novelty.
About The Venue
The Showroom is Turning Stone’s most underrated room — 800 seats, cabaret-style configuration, generous sightlines, and an atrium bar that functions as a proper pre-show gathering point. Turning Stone Resort Casino, owned and operated by the Oneida Indian Nation and open since 1993, books The Showroom with acts that reward the drive out to Verona. A tribute act of this caliber, in a room this size, delivers something the big shed tours can’t: proximity. For anyone who missed Metallica when the thrash was still new, that matters. More Syracuse / Central NY concerts are listed in our full regional calendar.
