Willie Nile at Daryl’s House | December 27, 2026

By Marc Delacroix · September 13, 2026

Willie Nile recorded a live album at Daryl’s House Club in April 2024. Classic Rock Magazine put it among the best rock albums of that year. He’s been adding to a catalog that now runs 21 studio albums deep — the most recent, The Great Yellow Light, earned four stars from MOJO and what the magazine described as “remarkable consistency.” On December 27, he comes back to the room where he made that record.

About the Show

Nile is a Buffalo, NY-born singer-songwriter who carries a lineage that predates rock and roll: his grandfather played vaudeville piano with Bill “Bojangles” Robinson and Eddie Cantor; his uncles played boogie woogie; his older brothers brought home Elvis and the Everly Brothers. He surfaced in New York’s Lower East Side during the late 1970s, and when his 1980 debut arrived, led by the single “Vagabond Moon,” the press reached for every available name: Dylan, Springsteen, Petty, Mellencamp. He outlasted the comparisons. The New York Times called him “one of the most gifted singer-songwriters to emerge from the New York scene in years.” Uncut Magazine named him “the unofficial poet laureate of New York City.” The New Yorker went further: “one of the most brilliant singer-songwriters of the past 30 years.”

The career had a long interruption after his 1981 sophomore album Golden Down; nearly a decade out of the studio before he returned in 2009 with House of a Thousand Guitars. What followed was a run of records that suggests he recovered from the industry’s indifference with interest: The Innocent Ones (2011) made Rolling Stone’s list of the top under-the-radar albums of that year; American Ride won Best Rock Album of the Year at the Independent Music Awards; Children of Paradise (2018) prompted the Associated Press to call it potentially “the best album of his career.” He’s toured with The Who, shared stages with Bruce Springsteen and Ringo Starr, and carries endorsements from Bono, Pete Townshend, Lou Reed, Lucinda Williams, and Little Steven. Lucinda Williams was blunt about it: “If there was any justice in this world, I’d be opening up for him instead of him for me.”

His current single is “We Are, We Are.” No support act is listed for December 27.
