The Bones of J.R. Jones wrote Radio Waves around a Catskills memory — Jonathon Linaberry catching a faint Chicago Cubs broadcast while driving through these hills, a fleeting signal across a long stretch of road. On Saturday, November 14, he brings that album to Colony Woodstock.
About the Show
Linaberry has been recording as The Bones of J.R. Jones for 13 years. Radio Waves, his sixth studio album, released June 20, 2025, on Tone Tree Music, was the first time he brought in an outside producer: Robbie Lackritz, GRAMMY-nominated for his work with Feist and Bahamas. Linaberry has described the writing process as his most fully realized creative moment. “I felt like I was the most whole I’ve been while writing these songs,” he said. The record is lo-fi and luminous in equal parts, acoustic instruments woven with retro synthesizers, built around memory, youth, and impermanence. The album title carries a second meaning: a wry nod to an independent musician’s relationship with commercial radio. A deluxe edition followed in October 2025 (adding demos, B-sides, and live recordings from a Le Poisson Rouge set in New York), and A Celebration EP arrived in 2026. Linaberry also appeared on CBS Saturday Morning in support of the album.
The music has appeared in True Detective, Daredevil, and Suits, and Noisey called Linaberry “one man band who can hold an audience rapt.” This November run takes the two artists through Amherst, Woodstock, Rochester, Toronto, Ottawa, and Burlington, with Chris Kasper opening. Kasper is a Philadelphia-based songwriter, 20 years in, with seven studio albums; his latest work draws on 1970s writers Bobby Charles, Lowell George, and Neil Young. He has toured with Amos Lee and The Wood Brothers and gets regular SiriusXM airplay. Both artists are working in the same raw folk, blues, and soul territory, and the pairing holds up across a full set.
Venue & Logistics
Colony Woodstock is a 150-capacity bar and music venue on Rock City Road in Woodstock, NY, part of the Hudson Valley live music circuit. In a room this size, there is no distance between the stage and where you’re standing. Doors open at 6 p.m.; the show starts at 7 p.m. Attendees under 18 are welcome with a parent or legal guardian.
