Built in 1928 as the Masonic Temple of Rochester and renovated into a performing arts venue by Rochester Broadway Theatre League in the early 2000s, the 2,464-seat hall on East Main Street has the bones — high ceilings, strong acoustics, and the feeling that something important is about to happen. On Thursday, April 30, that something is Bruce in the USA, bringing their note-perfect tribute to Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band to Rochester.
About Bruce in the USA
Founded in 2004 and debuting at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, Bruce in the USA has spent two decades building a reputation as the premier Springsteen tribute on the road. The group is a seven-piece live ensemble — no backing tracks. Lead vocalist Matt Ryan has been playing Springsteen since 2000, including a long-running role in Legends In Concert on the Las Vegas Strip. The band was featured on AXS TV’s The World’s Greatest Tribute Bands and has received recognition from E Street Band members Clarence Clemons and Jake Clemons. Their saxophonist Darryl Jones brings more than 50 years of performing experience across gospel, R&B, jazz, and rock.
The setlist rotates every night — core crowd favorites are always in the mix, but the rest changes so no two shows are identical. The band keeps the focus squarely on the music and the community in the room.
The Venue
West Herr Auditorium Theatre sits at 885 East Main Street in Rochester. Originally constructed as the Masonic Temple of Rochester in 1928, it was acquired by RBTL in 2003 and renovated into the performing arts hall it is today — 2,464 seats, refreshed throughout. A naming-rights partnership with West Herr Automotive Group gave it its current name in 2023. Six paid parking lots are nearby, opening 90 minutes before showtime. Rates run $10–$15 per vehicle — Pike Lot pre-purchase locks in $10 if you want one less thing to think about on the way in. Box office is open Monday through Friday 10am–5pm and Saturday 10am–2pm.
