Chris Fleming has been the comedian other comedians adore for years — the performer who earns raves from Jim Gaffigan and Nikki Glaser long before breaking through to general audiences. His HBO debut, Chris Fleming: Live at the Palace, changed that in February: an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Writing for a Variety Special and Comedy Performance of the Year at the Just for Laughs Festival both arrived in the same year. He brings Chris Fleming Live to Kingston’s UPAC on Saturday, October 24 at 8 p.m.

About the Show

The HBO special, filmed at the Cadillac Palace Theatre in Chicago and directed by Bill Benz with executive producers including Conan O’Brien and Jeff Ross, is the anchor of this run. HBO describes it as “a fun and lighthearted blend of skillful storytelling and wild physicality,” an hour that moves through Trader Joe’s, Oreos, NPR, dog breeds, and masculinity, with dancing and an actual song built in. Fleming summed up his comedic mission in a recent profile: “I’m trying to grow my fan base beyond women who brought a knife to prom.”

Fleming started at the Comedy Studio in Cambridge, where his mentor was owner Rick Jenkins, before earning a theater degree at Skidmore College and building his following through character-driven YouTube work. His series Gayle ran 40 episodes, and the video “COMPANY IS COMING” pulled 13.9 million views. He spent years on the road under show titles like Showpig, Boba Everyday, Forest Musings, and Tricky Tricky, and this current North American run stretches from September 2026 through April 2027. Variety named him one of its “10 Comics to Watch” in 2019, and The New York Times recognized him for “Best Range” in its 2025 comedy roundup. He’s been called “one of the most distinctive performers working today.” He also appears in the Apple TV series Widow’s Bay and is cast in upcoming films The Comeback King (directed by Judd Apatow, with Glen Powell) and The Catch (alongside Emma Stone and Chris Pine). The Kingston show is all ages.
