If you’ve been sleeping on Daryl’s House, this is a good night to wake up. The intimate Hudson Valley club — co-founded by Daryl Hall — hosts Double Duran: The Ultimate Duran Duran Experience on Friday, August 14. Doors open at 5:00 PM, show at 8:00 PM. All ages.
About Double Duran
Double Duran bills itself as America’s premier Duran Duran tribute, and the origin story earns some of that claim. The band spent nearly ten years trying to get this project off the ground — multiple attempts, multiple stops — until their agent finally encouraged them to try once more. The keyboardist remembers the moment it clicked: “We tried launching this a few times over the span of ten years. When we played our first song at rehearsal, it was magic.” Their debut show in Annapolis, Maryland sold out immediately. They’ve been touring the East Coast ever since.
The approach is authenticity without impersonation. The keyboardist channels Nick Rhodes’s synth textures — particularly the Seven and the Ragged Tiger era that delivered “The Reflex.” The bassist brings what fans describe as “an almost supernatural connection” to John Taylor’s grooves. The singer has studied Simon Le Bon’s phrasing with the kind of devotion that shows in the performance. They mix the hits with deep cuts — “New Religion” and “Land” are cited as setlist favorites — and the visuals keep pace: tailored jackets, bold colors, cinematic projections that recreate the band’s aesthetic era by era.
The moment audiences keep talking about: during “Save a Prayer,” phones go up across the room in a candlelit-vigil gesture that turns the whole space quiet and enormous at the same time.
Audiences have called it “the closest thing to seeing Duran Duran live today.” Hard to argue with that.
