Josh Turner is bringing his This Country Music Thing Tour to Kodak Center in Rochester on Thursday, August 20 — a 2,400-seat theater on the west side of the city, with a 7:30 PM start. There is a short list of voices in country music that are genuinely unmistakable, and Turner’s bass-baritone is on it. He is a South Carolina native who made his Grand Ole Opry debut in December 2001 — walked out, sang “Long Black Train,” got a standing ovation, and signed with MCA Nashville the following month. He has been an Opry member since 2007, inducted by Vince Gill, and was the second youngest member at the time of his induction, after Carrie Underwood.
His catalog does the talking: five No. 1 singles, including “Long Black Train” (3x Platinum) and “Your Man” (double Platinum — the music video has cleared 237 million views). He is a multiple Grammy nominee, a GMA Dove Award winner, and a recipient of the Order of the Palmetto. In 2024 he was inducted into the South Carolina Entertainment and Music Hall of Fame.
The Rochester show is part of the 29-date 2026 run in support of This Country Music Thing, his 2024 release on MCA Records that debuted Top 10 on the Country Albums chart. The tour runs through late October — the Northeast stretch hits Rochester on the 20th, then Albany the following night.
