Leylines describe their sound as existing “on the cutting edge of syncopated brutality,” and they mean it as a technical specification, not a marketing claim. About the Show
The band’s lineup runs on pedigree. Vocalist Jonathan Carpenter came from The Contortionist and Notochord; drummer Michael Ranne plays in Through The Eyes of the Dead. Bassist Bill Hobson has credits in Falling Through The Center Of The Earth and Circuit Of Suns. The band’s origin story fits the music: Ranne recorded drum tracks and shelved them for two years before sending the files to guitarist Jesse Blanchette, who composed all the guitar parts in a single day, including debut single “Blindspots.” Carpenter joined about a year after that.
Since their self-titled debut EP in October 2024 on Silent Pendulum Records, Leylines have been building a touring footprint: festival sets in Massachusetts and Wisconsin, club dates in Detroit and Providence, and a November 2025 co-bill at Empire alongside Entheos, Fallujah, The Zenith Passage, and Tracheotomy. The November 14 stop is the final date of the current run.
They are back in Albany supporting Sepulchral, released October 24, 2025—four tracks mixed and mastered by Mikhail Marinas that No Clean Singing described as the work of “tech groove deathcore juggernauts.” The record earned a 9/10 from AllWNY, whose reviewer praised the band’s ability to take choppy, angular guitar lines with dual bass drums and frequent time signature changes and turn them into what they called “organized chaos.” The standout moment is in “Aberration,” where the band pulls the distortion off the guitar mid-song and runs an off-beat disorienting line between the beats, a detail that only works because every player is exactly where they need to be. The record leans harder into atmospheric effects and keyboard layers than the debut, and the songwriting is sharper for it.
