Here is the show to tell your people about: Mac Saturn, a five-piece out of Detroit rolling through Rec Room on W. Chippewa on the Bound South Tour — a 300-capacity bar and music venue that puts you close enough to feel every groove. Doors at 7, show at 8 on Monday, June 15.
If you have not caught Mac Saturn yet, this is the moment to go. The band — Carson Macc on vocals, Nick Barone and Mike Moody on guitar, Ian Lukas on bass, and Angelo Coppola on drums — plays with what fans and press call “soulful swagger, Motown-infused grooves, and kinetic live energy.” That is not marketing copy doing overtime. The Michigan Daily called them “the past, present, and future of rock n’ roll,” which is a bold claim. After a set, you will understand why.
Their 2024 debut full-length Hard to Sell was produced at Detroit’s Rust Belt Studios — the same room where Greta Van Fleet built their sound — with Grammy-winning producers Al Sutton, Marlon Young, and Herschel Boone. The album pulls from blues rock, funk, Motown, and R&B in a way that sounds both classic and completely their own. Their 2022 EP Until the Money Runs Out built the foundation; Hard to Sell followed it up with something bigger. New single “Takes Time” is out now if you want to do your homework before Monday night.
The band opened for British rock act The Struts — which tells you something about where they sit. They are not an unknown quantity. They are a band on the way up, playing a 300-person room before the next run puts them somewhere bigger.
Rec Room sits on W. Chippewa in Buffalo — a short walk from the rest of the strip if you want to make a full night of it. Doors are at 7 PM. Show starts at 8.
