Buffalo’s Chippewa Street has hosted its share of memorable nights. Mac Saturn on a Monday in June is reason enough to clear your calendar.
The Detroit five-piece — Carson Macc on lead vocals, Nick Barone and Mike Moody on guitars, Ian Lukas on bass, and Angelo Coppola on drums — lives together in a Midtown Detroit chateau and plays like they grew up inside a jukebox loaded with Motown 45s and blues-soaked British imports. Their sound pulls from soul, funk, R&B, and classic rock in ways that feel, as one critic put it, “vaguely familiar yet ultimately all their own.”
Mac Saturn spent years on the road opening for The Struts — more than 50 dates worldwide — before running with the Black Crowes and Dirty Honey. They launched a 35-date coast-to-coast headline tour before the album even dropped. Their debut full-length, Hard to Sell, arrived in January 2024, produced by Al Sutton at Royal Oak’s Rustbelt Studios — the same facility behind Greta Van Fleet’s early recordings. The album launched at The Fillmore Detroit.
Rec Room sits right on Chippewa Street in downtown Buffalo. Get there early — the street delivers on dinner and drinks before doors. Doors open at 7:00 PM with the show starting at 8:00. This is a 16-plus event: anyone under 16 needs to come with a parent or guardian, and no one under 12 is admitted.
