Matisyahu at Bethel Woods Center for the Arts | August 2, 2026

By Marc Delacroix · May 6, 2026

There’s a certain logic to booking Matisyahu — born Matthew Paul Miller, a New York native who built a career out of searching for sacred meaning in secular spaces — at Bethel Woods Center for the Arts, a venue that exists as a permanent monument to the last time a generation truly believed music could reach something deeper. He arrives on Sunday, August 2, 2026, at 8:00 PM as part of his Summer 2026 Tour, and the pairing of performer and grounds feels, if not fated, at least unusually coherent.

About Matisyahu

Matisyahu first surfaced in 2005 with Live at Stubb’s, a live album that introduced American audiences to the improbable spectacle of a Hasidic Jewish reggae artist delivering beatbox-laced toasts over dancehall rhythms. The crossover single “King Without a Crown” made people pay attention to something they had never quite seen before, and “One Day,” released in 2009, has since accumulated over 150 million Spotify streams — the kind of cultural endurance that is difficult to engineer and impossible to fake. The GRAMMY-nominated artist spent the intervening years following his instincts wherever they led: electronic detours, stripped-back acoustic sets, collaborations that defied easy genre placement.

His eighth studio album, Ancient Child, arrived October 3, 2025 via SoundOn and finds him in openly reflective territory. The 12-track record blends reggae, hip-hop, Afrobeat, and rock, and carries the explicit weight of the post-October 7 moment — examining, in Matisyahu’s own words, “questions about history, identity, and destiny from the humility of a child through the wisdom of the generations past.” His eldest son LAIVY appears on “Son Come Up”; his second son Duvbear on “Rockin Tempos.” The touring cycle also marks the 20th anniversary of Live at Stubb’s, lending the summer run a retrospective dimension alongside the newer material.

About Bethel Woods Center for the Arts

Bethel Woods occupies the grounds of the 1969 Woodstock Festival in the Hudson Valley and wears that history with appropriate gravity. The 16,000-capacity outdoor amphitheater hosts both pavilion and lawn configurations across its hillside site; on-grounds camping is available from May through October for those inclined to approximate — however loosely — what it meant to spend a night on these fields 57 years ago. The Museum at Bethel Woods maintains permanent exhibition on the Woodstock era, making the property a destination rather than merely a shed with a stage. The venue is located at 200 Hurd Road, Bethel, NY 12720.
