Albany gets the final night. Empire Live closes out Nonpoint’s five-show summer run on Friday, August 7 — and if you have been on the fence about the drive down to North Pearl Street, that detail alone should push you off it. Last dates on a tight run have a different energy. Bands are locked in. Crowds show up ready to finish something.
Nonpoint has been doing this for nearly three decades, and they are still one of the harder-working live acts in heavy rock. The Fort Lauderdale-born five-piece — frontman Elias Soriano, drummer Robb Rivera, guitarists Rasheed Thomas and Jason Zeilstra, and bassist Adam Woloszyn — built their name on relentless touring and a sound that blends alternative metal, groove metal, and melodic R&B-inflected passages into something that is immediately recognizable. If you know “Bullet with a Name,” “Circles,” or “What a Day,” you already know why this room is going to be loud.
They are heading into this run with a new full-length on the horizon — first since 2018’s X — and Soriano has described it as “very, very heavy, very, very new feeling.” Lead single “Is It” is already out. There is real momentum behind this tour.
The lineup for this leg — officially titled The Even More… Outta Control Tour — stacks up: SOiL handles direct support, with Spineshank and (hed)p.e. opening. Show time is 7:00 PM on a Friday night in August. Plan accordingly.
Empire Live is one of the better rooms in the Albany / Capital District for a show like this. The two-floor setup at 93 N. Pearl Street gives you options depending on how close you want to get, and the 1,000-capacity standing floor keeps it tight and loud. If you want a good spot, get there early — the support acts are worth your time.
