Saxsquatch’s “Footprints” tour sold out 27 shows across the United States, closing at Cervantes Ballroom in Denver. The follow-up arrives with a different kind of ambition. The Conspiracy Theory Tour lands at Town Ballroom in western New York on Saturday, February 20, with Night 1 designated aliens-themed and Night 2, the following evening, carrying a tin foil hat concept. For a 7-foot-tall saxophone-playing Bigfoot working at the intersection of electronic music and crowd theater, this is entirely consistent programming.
About the Show
The performer behind the Saxsquatch character is Dean Mitchell, a North Carolina multi-instrumentalist and producer who came up through the Marcus King Band — rooted in blues, rock, and jazz — before pivoting toward electronic music after discovering artists like Daft Punk and being drawn to the live energy of acts like Big Gigantic. He bought his first saxophone from a pawn shop and, by his own account, became obsessed; live-looped beats and saxophone solos went viral during COVID lockdowns and built a following of more than three million across YouTube, TikTok, and Instagram.
The Times Union described the experience as “a mash-up of electronic beats and smooth instrumental pop.” The live show layers lasers, cryo effects, bubbles, and smoke machines over original music, remixes, and audience participation. Mitchell has released music on the Monstercat label, including “Squatchology,” featuring Eric Krasno, and collaborated with John Oates, Billy Ray Cyrus, and the band WAR. Tracks appeared in Rocket League in 2021 and Fortnite in 2022. Television appearances include Jimmy Fallon’s “That’s My Jam!” and Tosh.0. A VIP upgrade package is available separately, including a post-show photo and conversation with Mitchell, a Saxsquatch bandana, and an exclusive signed vinyl record. Fans are encouraged to come in costume; the aliens theme makes wardrobe choices for Night 1 reasonably self-evident. Two-night passes are available for both dates.
