Twenty years after Back to Black rewired what mainstream pop was willing to take from soul, The Amy Winehouse Band (Amy’s original musicians, not a tribute act) is marking that anniversary by taking the album out on the road in full, from first track to last. The Rochester date is Thursday, April 29, 2027, at Kodak Center.
About the Show
The North American tour spans 20-plus cities from Georgia and Florida through the Midwest, Southwest, and Northeast and into Ontario, running March 30 through May 8, 2027. The Rochester stop at Kodak Center falls in the final northeastern stretch of the run. The evening covers the complete Back to Black album in sequence, on the occasion of the record’s 20th anniversary, along with additional material from Winehouse’s catalog.
The band is led by Musical Director and bassist Dale Davis, a longtime Winehouse collaborator who played on the original recordings. The full lineup: vocalist Beth Morris, Nathan Allen on drums, Frank Walden on tenor saxophone, Hawi Gondwe on guitar, and Henry Collins on trumpet. The horn-driven arrangements that define Back to Black‘s sound are played by the people who first built them. That specificity is the production’s reason for being. The show also features on-screen visuals and archival footage.
Davis framed the project ahead of the tour: “This is not a celebration of Amy Winehouse’s music but a chance to experience it through the musicians who lived it.” That distinction matters more than it sounds. The show is built on the premise that the original band, the same people who played on the recordings, is the irreplaceable part. What the production offers isn’t nostalgia managed from a respectful distance; it’s the thing itself, performed by the people who made it.
Venue & Logistics
Kodak Center sits at 200 W Ridge Rd on Rochester’s northwest side, a theater-format room suited to a production where the arrangements are the draw. Rochester is the northern anchor of the Finger Lakes region; with a Thursday-night show, the drive in from the lake corridor avoids the weekend crunch. Show time is 7:30 p.m., and April upstate can be temperamental, so pack accordingly if you’re making the trip from a distance.
