Dave Attell’s 2024 Netflix special Hot Cross Buns was his first solo hour in roughly a decade, and the critical response amounted to: where has this been? One reviewer called it a return by “one of the best joke writers of the last 30 years.” On Saturday, October 24, Attell brings his fall tour to the Hudson Valley, with a show at the Paramount Hudson Valley in Peekskill at 8 p.m.
About the Show
Attell is, in the industry shorthand, the comics’ comic: the comedian other comedians cite when asked who the real deal is. Entertainment Weekly put him on their list of the “25 Funniest People in America,” and the ticketing copy for this show describes him as “one of the most influential and flat-out funniest stand-ups alive.” He built his public profile hosting Insomniac with Dave Attell, his late-night Comedy Central travel series that developed a devoted following, and he has kept his stage chops sharp with regular sets at the Comedy Cellar in New York City. More recently, he has appeared in Hulu’s Life & Beth and Bumping Mics with Jeff Ross on Netflix.
The 2026 fall run stretches August through December, moving through clubs and theaters across North America. Several stops have already sold out — including multi-night runs at the DC Improv in Washington, D.C. and The Comedy Store in West Hollywood. The Peekskill date is a single-night stand in the middle of that run.
His style is described, in the tour’s own promotional language, as dark observational humor where “no topic is off-limits,” delivered with “inventive misdirection and masterful crowd work.” The Hot Cross Buns special, filmed at Cobb’s Comedy Club in San Francisco, drew reviews calling its tone “casually savage.” One recurring bit has Attell playing the recorder on stage and passing recorders to the audience so they can play “Hot Cross Buns” along with him — the kind of thing that sounds like a gimmick on paper and lands as something stranger and funnier than that. His older Road Work special is on Netflix now if you want a preview before the show.
Venue & Logistics
The Paramount Hudson Valley is a 1,024-seat theater at 1008 Brown St in Peekskill, in Westchester County. It’s a bigger room than the clubs where Attell built his name, but in a theater this size you still feel close to the stage. The venue prohibits outside food and drinks and conducts security screening at entry. Worth knowing before you head in.
