Gimme Gimme Disco has played more than 1,370 documented shows since 2019, an ABBA-anchored DJ dance party that grew from college house parties in Boston into a touring operation spanning 10 countries. The project comes to Montage Music Hall in Rochester on Friday, Oct. 9.
About the Show
The concept is the brand’s own: “a DJ-based dance party playing all your favorite ABBA hits, plus plenty of other disco hits from the 70s & 80s like The Bee Gees, Donna Summer, & Cher.” The tagline invites attendees to “take-a-chance and you’ll be dancing all night long.” Disco attire is encouraged, and a 2022 review described the show as energetic, with a packed dance floor throughout. Shows run approximately two and a half hours. The event is 18+ with valid ID required.
Gimme Gimme Disco is a brand from Burwoodland, the live event company co-founded by childhood friends Ethan Maccoby and Alex Badanes. The two started throwing house parties while attending college in Boston, then relocated to Brooklyn, where their gatherings outgrew their apartment and prompted them to launch Emo Night Brooklyn at a Williamsburg bar called Cameo. Gimme Gimme Disco followed in 2019. (The company name comes from the area outside London where the two founders grew up.) Burwoodland has since logged more than 2 million tickets sold across more than 5,000 events, operating in 250-plus cities and 10 countries. The largest single Gimme Gimme Disco event drew 4,000 people to Pier 17 in New York. The production has grown from laptop-and-aux-cable setups into a full operation with professional DJs, dancers, synchronized visuals, and early-arrival giveaways at major stops. As co-founder Maccoby put it: “You can have people from completely different backgrounds… and for a few hours none of that matters. Everyone’s just connected.”
The fall 2026 run spans 49 dates across 41 cities, with stops at the 9:30 Club in Washington, D.C., the Rickshaw Theatre in Vancouver, and the Orpheum in Tampa. International appearances include Melbourne, Singapore, and Sydney. The Rochester date is Oct. 9.
