John Cafferty & The Beaver Brown Band at Riviera Theatre | April 3, 2027

By Marc Delacroix · August 25, 2026

John Cafferty spent nearly four decades between studio albums — a gap that would read as a quiet retirement if he had ever actually stopped touring. He didn’t. The Rhode Island group that put “On the Dark Side” atop the Billboard Rock chart in 1983 kept working, kept playing, and kept logging road miles long after the Eddie and the Cruisers era faded from the new-release bins. What it took to get Cafferty back into the recording studio was, apparently, a conversation with Bruce Springsteen. Sound of Waves, thirteen original compositions and their first studio album since 1988, arrived in April 2025, and the band has been touring behind it through 2026 and into 2027. That run brings John Cafferty & The Beaver Brown Band to the Riviera Theatre in North Tonawanda on Saturday, April 3.

About the Show

John Cafferty & The Beaver Brown Band have been performing since 1972 — a run now past 50 years, with the core lineup still anchored by founding members Gary Gramolini on guitar and Michael “Tunes” Antunes on saxophone. The Eddie and the Cruisers soundtrack remains the most recognizable chapter of their story: “On the Dark Side” topped both the Billboard Rock chart and the MTV video charts for five consecutive weeks, and the album went triple platinum. They returned in 1985 with “C-I-T-Y,” a second number-one Billboard Rock single that reached the Top 20 overall. Across the band’s career, Cafferty’s music has appeared in more than 35 films, including a Rocky IV contribution that earned double Platinum status. The group was inducted into the Rhode Island Music Hall of Fame in 2012.

Sound of Waves, released April 10, 2025 through Moonstone Music, is Cafferty’s first original songwriting project in nearly four decades, with all 13 tracks written by Cafferty after Springsteen encouraged him to return to recording. The lead single, “Day In The Sun,” appeared in the 2024 film Ricky Stanicky. The Riviera Theatre date is a headlining engagement; no support act has been announced for this show.

Venue & Logistics

The Riviera Theatre — a 1,100-capacity theater at 67 Webster St. in North Tonawanda — is a natural landing spot for a band with this kind of catalog. There’s a particular logic to seeing a group that went triple platinum in the 1980s in a room of this size: the audience is close, and the history fits the scale. The Riviera is a regular stop on Western New York’s classic-rock circuit. Show time is 7:30 p.m.
