If you had February 21 circled on your calendar and felt the sting when this one got moved, here is the good news: USS is coming to Town Ballroom in Buffalo on Friday, May 22, and the wait will be worth it. The Canadian duo — Ashley Buchholz on vocals, guitar, and erhu, and Jason Parsons (aka Human Kebab) on turntables and production — are bringing The Ultimate Weekend Warrior Tour to Main Street, and if you have never seen what these two do to a room, this is your introduction.
About USS
USS (Ubiquitous Synergy Seeker) was born out of a friendship built on a golf course somewhere in the Toronto area, which tells you something about the unlikely chemistry at the heart of their sound. Buchholz brings acoustic guitar and erhu; Parsons drives the room with drum-and-bass beats and DJ production. The combination should not work as well as it does, and yet USS became one of Canada’s most popular touring bands before anyone quite understood how to categorize them.
Over the course of their run, the duo earned 8 award wins including a JUNO nomination, a certified gold album, platinum-status singles, and logged tours across 12 countries — before announcing their split in 2021. Their final show closed out the Final Freakquency tour on June 11, 2022. Then in 2025, they came back. The reunion produced Horizons Live, a live album recorded from that farewell run, now available on CD and vinyl.
The live show is the whole point. Pyrotechnics, light shows, dancefloors that erupt, singalongs that fill the room — a USS set tends to feel less like a concert and more like an event you will still be describing the next morning.
Town Ballroom
Town Ballroom sits in the heart of the Downtown Buffalo Theatre District at 681 Main Street. It is a standing-room venue with a capacity of around 1,000 to 1,200, which means you are close to the stage no matter where you land. Doors open at 7:00 PM. This is an ages 12+ show — anyone under 16 must be accompanied by a parent, and government-issued ID is required at the door.
