Jabbawockeez built their name on a philosophy that sounds simple until you see it executed: put on the white masks, slip on the white gloves, sync the movement, and make the group the point rather than the individuals inside it. The San Diego crew has been at it since 2003, and the philosophy has earned them a dedicated theater in Las Vegas and a run of milestones that make the Niagara Falls stop on April 2 worth noting.
About the Show
The crew surfaced nationally through America’s Got Talent in 2006, then won the inaugural season of MTV’s Randy Jackson Presents America’s Best Dance Crew in 2008, establishing themselves as the most celebrated group to come out of that competition. The name is drawn from Lewis Carroll’s poem “Jabberwocky” — appropriate for a crew that was operating outside the standard frame from the start. The white masks and gloves, per the crew’s own framing, are designed to guide the audience’s attention away from individual identities and toward the unified group: the choreography is the act, not the performers behind it. What followed the ABDC win moved through commercial campaigns for Pepsi, Ford, and Gatorade; TV appearances on Dancing with the Stars, So You Think You Can Dance, and The Ellen DeGeneres Show; a cameo in Step Up 2 The Streets; and a tour alongside New Kids on the Block. In 2010 they became the first dance crew to headline a Las Vegas production show, debuting MÜS.I.C at Monte Carlo Resort and Casino. The residency extended through PRiSM at Luxor in 2013 and JREAMZ at MGM Grand in 2015, and continues as Timeless, described as showcasing dance scenes across America over time, at the dedicated Jabbawockeez Theater inside MGM Grand. Hip Hop International recognized the crew with the Living Legend of Hip Hop Award in 2012.
No support acts are listed for the April 2 date. The four original members (Kevin Brewer, Joe Larot, Rynan Paguio, and Jeff Nguyen) now primarily handle production and direction. All-ages; guests under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
