The Pittsburgh metalcore act 156/Silence is on a six-stop spring headline run, and Rochester gets one of those dates — Saturday, May 16 at Montage Music Hall. This is the only upstate New York show on the run, and it is the kind of lineup worth making the trip for.
About 156/Silence
156/Silence has built their following one tour at a time, making music they describe as “soundtracks for the pushed aside and marginalized.” Their 2024 album People Watching, produced by Jonathan Dolese, draws from a genuinely unusual range of influences — Aphex Twin, Thrice, Deftones — and delivers what the band calls “melodic hooks without sacrificing any heaviness.” That balance is what sets them apart: they can hit hard without losing the melody that makes a song stick.
Kerrang! named them one of six underground metalcore bands redefining the scene in 2018. They have since toured alongside The Acacia Strain and Unearth. This spring run puts them back at the front of the bill with Fox Lake serving as special guest — six headline dates slotted between stops on a larger 30-date North American package with Thornhill. Rochester’s date includes Quantifier on the bill as well.
At Montage Music Hall
Montage Music Hall is at 50 Chestnut Street in downtown Rochester’s East End — a club-format room where a band like 156/Silence can close the distance between stage and audience in a way the bigger rooms simply do not allow. Get there before doors if you want to get settled.
