Dance Gavin Dance at Buffalo RiverWorks | May 23, 2026
Saturday night, May 23, Dance Gavin Dance rolls into Buffalo RiverWorks for what amounts to ideal timing in post-hardcore: the night after Tree City Sessions 3 drops. If you have been watching this band — Sacramento experimentalists who fused math rock, screamo, and funk into something genuinely their own — you already know that a DGD show the day after new material lands hits different.
About Dance Gavin Dance
Dance Gavin Dance formed in Sacramento in 2005, and two decades in they remain one of the most unpredictable live acts in heavy music. The current lineup — Jon Mess on harsh vocals, Andrew Wells on guitars and clean vocals, Will Swan on guitars, and Matt Mingus on drums — has been touring hard and coming out sharper. Their latest studio album, Pantheon (May 2025), holds up on stage, and Tree City Sessions 3 — their in-studio series — arrives May 22, the night before this Buffalo date. The lead track “Get Money” already has an in-studio video out; the crowd will know every word.
March 2026 brought their second US gold single, and they have Sonic Temple, Louder Than Life, and Vans Warped Tour on the summer calendar. This is a band operating at a high-water mark.
The bill goes four acts deep. The Fall of Troy — Washington state post-hardcore institution, reunited and still bringing the full chaos of Thomas Erak’s guitar work — joins Sacramento’s Wolf & Bear (fresh off their April 2026 double-single Whiplash / Dr. Doot) and The Novelists to round out a lineup worth arriving early for.
